School Philosophy
Lindfield East Public
School aims for high level academic achievement and enthusiastic
participation in physical, creative and performing arts programs for
its students. A strong student welfare program exists to support
students’ developing emotional and social needs as does the school
uniform and discipline policy.
The school engages all
students through:
·
the use of learning technologies relevant to the students and
·
the provision of pedagogical practices that focus on high levels of
intellectual quality for all students.
At Lindfield East Public
School students are clear that their learning matters to themselves,
the teachers and the community. Parents as partners in their
children’s learning make the achievement of these aims possible.
Lindfield East Public
School is the local government school for students in the drawing
area which includes East Lindfield and East Killara.
The school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and
includes a small number of out of area placements.
Lindfield East Public School is multicultural and inclusive. On
average there are over 600 students enrolled with approximately half
coming from another language or cultural background.
The students work in an harmonious and supportive environment.
The school grounds are well maintained with many native trees and
shrubs adding to tranquility of the learning environment.
The teachers are committed to the students and to the school and
take pride in the achievement of the students.
The students participate enthusiastically in the many extra
curricula activities offered to them by the school community. There
is a high level of student involvement in the school bands; before
and after school activities; chess club; and sporting activities.
Our school is a family orientated school which actively promotes
parent involvement in students’ learning environment. The school
welcomes new students, parents and staff through social functions, a
Welcome Committee, parent/ teacher meetings and regular information
evenings.
There are over 20
classrooms (the Kindergarten rooms are double rooms) with wet areas
and carpet in each room. There are a few rooms available for small
group lessons.
Communication is enhanced with state of the art cable networking and
broadband Internet connections. All classrooms, the Computer room,
the Library and the Administration buildings are networked allowing
for easy access to computer files, cooperative planning amongst
teachers and more efficient communication around the school.
The school is a modern brick construction and the few demountable
buildings have P&C funded reverse cycle air conditioning to provide
a comfortable learning environment.
The well appointed school hall is the venue for assemblies, visiting
performers and speakers, gymnastics and dance classes, band
performances and rehearsals, parent information evenings and school
social functions. The students enjoy using the Library, netball and
tennis courts as well as the adventure playgrounds. All these
facilities are set in well maintained grounds which are shaded by
the many trees and enhanced by native gardens which attract varied,
colourful native birds.
